Call Lewis houser (703) 876-6300 who is restoring my 53. He found an original behind the gas tank. He has it or I'd tell you. Mike

Ernie,
I suspect the FO was clenching his teeth at the high cost of Leaded Premium back in the day - around 27 cents/gallon - and used the dipstick to bite on prevent damage. They did that a lot in the old Western movies every time they carved out a bullet......

I apologize for not having it in metric, but the dip stick is 19 11/16" long with the 50 liter mark is just over 9 1/16" from the bottom. There is one listed on ebay right now that looks quite a bit different than this.

Mine is about 8 inches long, I guess the litre mark was chewed off :)
