356 C Cab windshield and seal.

#1 Post by Peter Boettcher »

Hi All,

We are trying to determine the best source for a front windshield and seal for a C Cabriolet.
Looking at International Mercantile for the seal and Stoddard for the glass.
Please let me have your recent experiences and recommendations.

Thanks for your help!

IM has great rubber seals. They are actual rubber and not plastic.
Jules

Water pumps are for windshield washers only.

Peter Drive over to Pilkinton in Columbus( South Suburb) and pick up your windshield. And consider using the Karmann seal. Yes I know that your Cab is a Reutter.

Thanks Doug,

We are all set with the seal, but tried the numbers for Pilkinton in the Columbus area but could not connect with a retail dealer. Pilkinton North America is only doing wholesale so far.
Will keep after it. May have to use Stoddard

as long as the windshield seal is from the genuine german supplier you are just fine. We install them in our shop and they fit perfectly. We purchase the windshields through Porsche as they deliver for free

Drive up to Stoddard's in the Cleveland area and get the correct windshield from stock. To compare with other sources: Clear about $625, tint about $585 Seal from Porsche in stock about $157.

Thanks for all the suggestions.
The local Porsche dealership could source this for us, but their pricing was about $200.00 higher that Stoddard.
We could not find a local Pilkinton dealer. The Columbus warehouse now only sells to their own dealer network.
It does seems odd to me that a tinted windshield is more expensive that a clear one.

Stoddard will get the order for the windshield and seal.
We may make a road trip from Cincinnati to pick up the order.
The best Barbecue restaurant in the world, Blazin Bills, is not too far from Stoddard and is a regular stopping point for our group when we attend the Stoddard swap and show event.
