Coil diameters
Question -- Modern ignition coils are (I believe) are 55 mm diameter. What is the diameter of older coils? about 63 mm maybe ?

Brad, measured in several places, a '59 TK6A3 is just over 60 mm.Brad Ripley wrote: ↑Thu Aug 18, 2022 1:07 pm Question -- Modern ignition coils are (I believe) are 55 mm diameter. What is the diameter of older coils? about 63 mm maybe ?

Re: Coil diameters
Jon, Thanks for measuring one of the old coils, just over 60 mm -- which the reason why old coil clamps are too large for "modern" 55 mm dia. coils. BTW, many modern coils don't come with clamps so some sort of shim must be used with the early larger clamp.

Re: Coil diameters
For the newer coils there are some brackets for $3. https://socalautoparts.com/wp-content/u ... 905251.jpg
