356 Pickup

#1 Post by Dan Haden »

Knowing that I have 356s, a friend of my wife sent her this picture. I don't know where it came from, but I don't remember ever seeing it. On close examination it seems to me to be a Photoshop job. Notice the lighting and surface texture of the "bed" area which was borrowed from a photo without a shiny metal surface. The area above the LR wheel looks particularly bogus. This would answer the question, "Where is the engine?" Also the dash and older body style don't fit with the 1960 title. Do you suppose that the little narrow "tailgate" folds down for long loads?

Interesting. I do see a tail pipe. Maybe a VW pancake engine? Others might know of the car or if it is bogus,

I made one just like that around 1975. Semi-finished, it got stolen from my parking lot. I found it a couple of miles away sitting, but I’d lost interest so I left it there. Probably still have the title.

The Crosley, or a 356?

Crosley. A 356 I would have retrieved.

now THIS Pickup design would be a GREAT one to make in a fiberglass kit car with a suburu engine. Chuck Beck could make it. I even think that I would buy one!!!
