Tonneau cover snaps

#1 Post by Dave Erickson »

I had Autos International make a new tonneau cover and install new posts , so all new hardware…. The cover is reasonably easy to install, but removal is really hard. Some of the snaps just don’t want to let go. It’s probably technique, any suggestions?

Get a "tenax popper offer" from deluxe customs. Best invention ever!

if they are tight you need to push the ring down until it bottoms out then lift the center. They can be a pain, the tool Jules referenced works super, it does the push down and pull up for you.

Great. I emailed Matt at Deluxe Customs, I could not find it on their website. Thanks for the suggestion.

Tight fitting Tonneau snaps are good. The material will stretch over time and create possible issues. Love the tonneau cover for my cab and think it makes the car a bit more special. While this cover fits tight, have not had terrible issues of install or removal.

There are two types of snaps on my Convertible D. Or at least there were two when Don McKenna finished re-upholstering it in 1972. One type was a post style, the other was a shorter post lift-a-dot fastener. He used the taller posts on the dashboard. I had him replace those with the shorter type located as far forward as possible.
The tall post type in that location looked dangerous in the event of a sudden stop.
