Half Century of Ownership

#1 Post by Walt Nolte »

Per the receipt dated August 4, 1972 pictured below, we are celebrating fifty years of ownership today. Pictured in green/gray metalic, the 356 was our first car as a married couple and used as a daily driver for a dozen years. We painted it Peru Red from a 911 color in the late 70s, then stopped driving it after having two children. The car deteriorated over the years as we hauled it around the country and finally in the early part of this century, we started the restoration process (pictured on flatbed). Pictured as seen today with Heiner and Bettina, our new friends from Germany, who stopped by for lunch in Montana on their California to Baltimore trip with their 356B.

The car was originally orange. The metallic grey/green was a non standard color. It is now Miesen Blue, a color available in 1959.

Walt, its hard to say you overpaid for that car 50 years ago - $1800! And in Tacoma WA! Do you know the history of the car before you bought it?

Congratulations Walt!
As the college roommate of the previous owner, I remember when it returned with its fresh coat of green paint. It is nice to see that you and Becky have been such great caretakers over the years.
