356 diaper

#1 Post by George Hussey »

We are working on this 356 roadster that recently sold on BAT. Our fanatically clean mechanic did not want oil to drip from it onto our German garage tile floor, so he pinned a diaper to the bottom of it!

He could've just drained the oil.
If I had known I would live this long I would have pushed the envelope a little harder.

One of my customers was turned away from the emissions check station due to dripping oil. I zip tied two of his baby’s diapers to the crossmember to catch the oil. A short term solution but it worked.

Wouldn't it leak less if the car was not on its side?

Isn’t that what super 90 valve covers are for?

Looks like Pig Mat. They are pricey, but do a great job of catching oil and save some cleanup headaches. By chance, I had some puppy training pads, and find they work pretty darn well for smaller leaks. They are much cheaper and are readily available.
