i have the same problem sporadically with 1st and 3rd. i'm going to try and adjust my shift plate and see what happens. i have found with mine though that it needs to be somewhat forcefully, or you need to make positively sure its put all the way in gear. it feels like its in gear but it isn't, and pops out.

Exactly same symptoms Jay
Only pops out in first and yes it must be pushed in “with certainty”
Going into the shop next week to go through the transmission and the shift plate adjustment
Thanks for the input Jay

well we have one common theme that being the whirring noise.
We will see whom else might have a solution that befits both of us.

Many thanks

Peter
Hi Peter,
I have just replaced the flywheel end engine oil seal and of course the gland nut and the whirring noise has stopped.
The old gland nut had a needle roller bearing setup as does the new gland nut but it is now silent.

Yesterday we refitted the oil filler and breather tube as it had a small pin size hole in it and adjusted the zeniths. The Whirring noise is back. Not as loud as before but it is there. Stops when you depress the clutch. Just something we have to live with I guess and not the end of the world.

Graeme,
Thanks for the follow up
Yesterday, while on the DY356 Day drive, the whirring returned and starts when you depress the clutch!
The transmission performed flawlessly throughout the drive until coming down the street to the garage she popped out ??
Go figure

Peter
