356C seat upholstery question
I see where the upholstery attaches to the bottom but, it seems there needs to be a shim, of about 1/4" to hold the upholstery to the seat bottom. How was that accomplished? In a previous build I used some 1/4" particle board cut to about 1/2" width. It worked but, how was it really installed?

Re: 356C seat upholstery question
I think that the upholstery is stapled to a cardboard strip, from memory about 1/2” x 1/8 or 3/16”. Once it is in place the channel in the seat base is more or less dented in to retain the upholstery.

Re: 356C seat upholstery question
My 59 had little metal clips wedged in a fold in the seat upholstery.

Greg There is a nice Youtube video of similar 911 seats being done: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3f8J0ml55GU&t=529s

Re: 356C seat upholstery question
The factory used 5/8" by 1/8 " thick cardboard strips. The strips are thicker than mat board used in picture framing. The upholstery is stapled to the strip and it is then "flipped" and tucked into the channel. In order to accomplish that, the seat bottom needs to be compressed.
