Here goes folks. I need to replace a lot of bolts missing on my car and the path of least resistance seems to appeal to the gurus out there. The car I am restoring is a 1965 356C:
The bolts that bolt the rear brake calipers to the car. 2 for each caliper. What size?
Bolts that bolt the generator/fan assembly to the shroud. 4 of them. What size?
Bolts that go through the shroud to bolt in the coil bracket to the shroud. What size?
The four bolts that bolt the generator stand to the block. What size?
Thanks in advance.
Greg

Go to technical area of website. There are factory parts manuals for your car. You can look up all you need.

I believe the generator stand is held on by two bolts and two studs/nuts

Tom, that part of the site seems cryptic beyond cryptic. Just tried looking but, I don't want to go through a Phd thesis to get the bolt sizes for 4 bolts.

Re: Bolt size questions....brake calipers, shroud
Greg, its not that hard. Hope this helps:
Find this page in the technical docs:
356C parts are in the three manuals:
Parts Manual 356B
Parts Manual 356B T6 Supplement
Parts Manual 356C Supplement
Start in the 356B manual. Only go to the T6 or C supplement if it is a part that was modified in the later cars.
The generator stand is shown in the first drawing in the engine section (section 1, drawing 1/1):
The item you want (generator stand stud) is #46 and the bolt is #55.
Find the line for #46 following, it has not only the size but the plating and DIN standard that applies:
Note that it does not list a stud, it lists a hexagon bolt, which has the same part number as #55. At some point the stud was replaced by the bolt.

The Two bolts for the generator stand should be M8x35 with 14mm ATF heads I think.

Only through approximately 1960. Four bolts after that. Doug, take note.Martin Benade wrote: ↑Fri Jul 15, 2022 10:37 pm I believe the generator stand is held on by two bolts and two studs/nuts

Re: Bolt size questions....brake calipers, shroud
Didn't see this previously ...
I made a list of bolts for my 64 SC Cab (Ruetter) - I had carefully bagged and labeled when I disassembled but had to throw them all in a container when I had them plated. I've posted this list several times in the past - it's not a comprehensive list, but many of the nuts and bolts for a C are on it.
