Need brake line photos

#1 Post by Patrick Ertel »

A previous owner put a 644 transmission and B brakes in my '56 coupe. They cobbled together some brake lines that have worked for many years, but I want to put things right. I need a photo of the locations of the two mounts that clamp to the axle tube. I know mine are wrong, but I don't know what configuration is correct.
Also, I'm going to replace the line in the tunnel. It looks like a formidable job. Has anyone here done it? Any advice?
Thanks.

When I did my tunnel line I did it in two pieces with a connector near the gearshift. That may have made it a little easier, but a one piece line isn’t so hard to do either.

Martin,
Thanks, I'm specifically interested in where the hold-down clips are located inside the tunnel.

Hunt around previous posts in this chat group for photos of the underside of the tunnel. There have been several in the recent past.

Here is a center tunnel with 1 brake like still in it from an open bottom. Looks like 3 fold over fasteners in addition to the rubber plugs at firewall and end of tunnel. Sorry but I do not know year of this tunnel

I always replace the tunnel brake line with a 7mm SS line. It is not a difficult job with one piece. If this old geezer can do it anyone can. ............Jim.
