Replacement shocks

I would like to know what everyone's experience and/or recommendations are for replacing the shocks on my 1964 356c coupe (i.e. Koni, bilstein, etc...)

Jason, in order of preference I would go, Koni, Bilstein, Boge. Nothing else comes to mind. Some have used KYB but if you actually drive the cars as opposed to just going for a cruise/ drive you need something better.

I have had Koni's for over 50 years, adjustable and when they get soft you just out a 1/2 trun on the adjuster, and keep on going.

Read your shop manual. The incorrect length shocks sill cause the brake hoses to bind. Fortunately on the drum brake cars this situation does not exist.

In my opinion the high end billsten shocks are really the best they are factory specs they sell two types one at $70 and the factory specs at $200 that is for one shock the different is worth it

It depends upon how hard or soft you want the car to ride.

I have Bilstein's all around with a Willhoit front sway bar. I like a firm ride.

I have used3 different shocks on 3 different cars. Koni set to soft, Boge and Bilstein. If I were to do a 4th I would use Koni set to soft or Bilsteins. Both work well on a street driven car.

My son's Roadster that I drove for years when I owned it has Boges. They work fine, and when they wear out, we will rebuild the original Konis that came with the car and install those. My 1964 coupe has Bilsteins. I cannot complain about them at all...
