COMPOSITE LIST - 356 Owners SUGGESTED REPAIR SHOPS

During the last 20 years of my Porsche 356 Coupe ownership, one of my biggest challenges has been finding repair professionals near me. Additionally, when planning a road trip, having such information would be a huge benefit when experiencing the need for repair without having to transport vehicle back to your home base via flatbed to facilitate any repairs. While the Registry does provide some details for travelers and the local Registry members can be searched, however with great effort. This Forum Topic could be easily searched for the data. Hopefully, a Forum Topic addressing this need could be an ongoing benefit to both the professionals providing services along with huge benefits to us needy 356’ers.

By simply replying to this Topic with the following format:

State Location of Repair Shop
Repair Shop’s Town Location
Contributor’s Experience with shop
Date of Last experience with subject repair shop

An excellent idea. I could list several in my immediate area but I only have first-hand experience with a couple. Perhaps the Registry as an entity could reach out to them to see if they want to be included on a list. We could submit the names to the Registry for consideration or we could just list the shops that we are aware of with cities and phone numbers. Incorporating the list in the Travel Assistance Network would be great. The TAN right now isn't as robust as it used to be. If it was, just contacting a member in a particular area who would have local knowledge of a shop would be great.

Thanks Al. There is a list of vendors on the new website that was transferred from the old site. Club Express has a Vendor Directory feature that allows businesses to be categorized and then searched by category and by geographic location. In the past 2 days I have built a database of 28 vendors(so far) that are advertisers in our magazine. This is just a start. There are well over 100 vendors on the old disorganized vendor list and they will be listed in the new Vendor Directory but any shop that works on the Porsche 356 is invited to contact me and I will help them to get their services or products onto the directory.

Ideally I hope to compile a very large list of garages that will repair our cars while traveling or in our home area.

It would be helpful if members contacted the shops that they use and ask the shop to contact me for inclusion in the directory.

Do you mean like this? DONE! The image below only shows the few shops that I have entered so far that do general repairs. We need the info for more shops so get them to sign up for the directory.
