If you don't have a burning desire to keep them, you need to reach out to some AR owners. I know that if I had one I would gobble up any and all AR-only parts no matter what. I am sure Vic and some others can point you in the right direction. Congrats on the find, this is really an amazing story Dave!Dave Whittick wrote: ↑Tue Jun 07, 2022 10:41 pmI guess that’s what I’m thinking. Could you post more photos of these now that you've dug them out?

Re: Seat Identification - America Roadster?
After seeing the rest of the stash, it is unlikely the seat shown in the first photo is that from an America Roadster. In those photos I don't see another foreign car part.

I’ll post better pictures. He had 3 barns full of parts. I grabbed all of early air cooled VW stuff along with Porsche wheels.Brad Ripley wrote: ↑Wed Jun 08, 2022 11:51 am After seeing the rest of the stash, it is unlikely the seat shown in the first photo is that from an America Roadster. The gentleman owned a body/collision shop. The seats came out of a ‘Super 90’ (as he described it) that had been damaged beyond repair. The motor from the car went into his VW at the time, I bought the three wheels that were straight and the seats went into his loft. The rest of the car went to scrap. We’ll never know unfortunately

My apologies, Martin, and I know I am off topic, but how the hell can you get a PHD with 4 jobs that "fit your training" in a country with 300+ million people?Martin Benade wrote: ↑Tue Jun 07, 2022 10:00 pm Reminds me of my sister’s PHD. She has expertise in a field that nobody needs. Her study wasn’t really about getting a job, she had one already.

Dave,
I just sent a picture of your seats to Ron Roland for an ID one way or another (he has restored at least 2 America Roadsters) and will let you know what he says.
On another note, that's a very nice looking low light Ghia in your garage.

I appreciate the help. I just don’t want these to disappear into the hoard if somebody can use them.Sebastian Gaeta wrote: ↑Mon Jun 13, 2022 2:12 pm Dave,

The lowlight is an early trout blue 56. Also have a 59 lowlight which is waiting for restoration.

I received this reply from Ron. If you want to pursue it with him I can certainly get the two of you in contact with each other, just let me know.
Good morning Sebastian,
I don't think this seat is from an America Roadster. It's similar to the seats in Heath's car but doesn't seem to wrap around enough, and looks a little too high. The seats in my car are totally different, being of VW derivation, and I believe are the only ones like that. It would be interesting to know this seat's history. Since there were only 16(17) Roadsters built, and most are accounted for, finding a seat from one of the missing cars would indeed be exciting.

Just beautiful. I am a longtime Ghia owner as well, a '64 coupe and '67 convertible. Certainly not Porsches but they are very captivating little cars.Dave Whittick wrote: ↑Mon Jun 13, 2022 2:40 pm The lowlight is an early trout blue 56. Also have a 59 lowlight which is waiting for restoration.

(At least in 1953) Reutter recorded the chassis number on the front, bottom side of the wood seat frame. I don't know if Gläser did this or not, but it might be worth pulling a few upholstery staples to have a peek at the frame.
