#1 Post by Hugo Karasawa »

What tool do I need to disassemble calipers ?
The head is not Allen nor Torx.

I believe that’s a metric spline, like the velocity joints on a 911/912. I have one but I can’t remember the size. Most auto parts stores will have them in a blister pack in the tool section

That is coarser than the 911 spline bolts, which I think are casually called double square. That may be hard to come by.
Definitely not a torx, but the right number of points. No Torx will fit well enough?

Torx did fit but rounds the edges and stopped using it

Torx teeth are round, not square like you need. So I guess not close enough.

I usually replace the bolts when I do calipers with socket head bolts. They are not very expensive and are very close to a standard length. I also use Schnorr washers under the nuts

Hugo, you need a RIBE Polydrive tool.
Just search for a RIBE tool, socket or key. The size you'll need is either M6 or M8.

Jon,
Thanks, that is what I needed to know.
I was not sure which one to use, Bristol, Ribe CV or Polydrive Ribe.
