Quarter window seal, T6 coupe

I have a new seal as above which goes on the body, 644-543-903-00, as made by Intl Merc. When I dry-fit it on the car, it is too long by about 5 inches or so. My thinking is then: am I supposed to cut this to fit, and, if so, where is the joint supposed to go? Can someone enlighten me? All my original photos were lost in my hard drive crash 2 years ago, so I'm flying by the seat of my pants on some of this stuff.
