The diaphragm is just two layers, no problem.

Re: fuel pump rebuild
Thank you all so much - so the fuel pump is back on - everything works great - ran for about 10 minutes and then once i shut it off, it seeped from the dome, i think the screw hole. It's not something i did not want to over tighten and it did this before the rebuild. Thinking the dome has become distorted somewhat. A new dome might be in order!

Re: fuel pump rebuild
If it is the bolt hole, try very slight turns on the bolt (just a few degrees at a time), it might stop your leak. You could also try a small bit of Hylomar (or equivalent) on both sides of the red washer. If this doesn't fix it, you can try to flatten the sealing surface on the dome by sanding (paper on a glass plate). Be carful to keep it flat. Don't give up yet, there may be hope for it.

Re: fuel pump rebuild
Quick update - all looked good but still a tiny leak from the dome nut about 5 minutes after shutting the car off. Took off the washer and dome and polished to mirror surfaces, appears to be working great! Thank you for the help!
