VW axle housings, drums, and hoop substitute.
All that work to put a cooler but weaker transmission in their car.

Martin; why do you think a 356 trans is weaker than a VW??

The 36 Hp differential carrier is certainly weaker than any 62 or younger VW. Beyond that maybe the Porsche one is stronger?
