Gene:
Vrederstien is a good one that I run on my cars. Direct Tire in the greater Boston area got them and installed them, so if you're not too way far north that could be a possiblity for you. Good luck. Tom

Hello Gene,

You will find valuable info about tires for your 356 here http://porsche356registry.org/resources ... sizes.html

195/75/15 seems not to be appropriate for your car, have a look at the link above.

Greetings

Gene, you must be using 5.5 inch or maybe even bigger rims. 185 70 15's are the best choice. Vredestein Sprint Classics are not too expensive and HR rated. If you want to spend big bucks there is always the Michelin XWX from Coker. I use those on my '73 S, but they are very expensive.

I'm pretty happy with my Falken ZE-512s so far (185/65/15 on 5.5 rims).

What size rims? 4.5 or 5.5 inch wide? Where are you located> Vredestein makes some very nice tires that are the proper size and look for a 356C -- I got 185x70x15 for my 5.5 inch wide rims and had them shipped to my local installer. There is a sticky on this forum about tires--you might want to check out.

I just did a race weekend on a set of new Blockley 165x15 tires. These replaced a set of Michelin 165x15 and the Blockley tires have a whole lot more grip. Nice on the turn it, just lift the throttle for a bit more oversteer. Very progressive at greater angles of attack.. all in all good race report.

Ciao!

I'm using the Michelin XAS H165/15 with Michelin tubes.
For me the best with the right size.

I would like to have also a set of Dunlop racing but here in Italy are to much expensive :(

Barry.....in all the discussions of tires, I have not seen a source for what tires came on which cars. For example, my 60 Roadster's COA indicates my car came with Conti tires as optional equipment. How do I find out which tire that might have been? I have the original 4.5 X 15 wheels.

After 10 years I need to get new tires. I'm currently running Dunlop 165R15 SP20 ($59 each in 2002) and I found out they don't make them any longer. Some friends have suggested the Vredesteins that run about $125 each + mounting, balancing, etc. I called the place that I bought my tires from here in Studio City, CA and they recommended a tire I've never heard of ... Nexen ... and said they'd run around $400 installed. Anybody know anything about these tires or can recommend something else?

Thanks in advance,

Michael

I just picked up a set of Kumho Power Star 758 tires: 165/80 R 15. These fit perfectly on original rims or after market wheels of 4 1/2" or 5" custom rims. A bit narrow for 5 1/2" rims though. I got these tires at Discount tires. This size is getting harder and harder to find.

I too am using Khumo tyres since buying my car in 94 and I'm quite happy with them. (Not a lot of choice in ADL - as Rob stated above, they're getting harder to find these days.) Would love to be able to get my hands on some Dunlops - but the stores here don't stock the required size, and seem quite reluctant to try to source them from other states (if available?).
