Service Book

#1 Post by Geoff Starkey »

Can anyone advise if there was a method to the Porsche little service book numbering system? Was it dealer related or just consecutive numbering on the books supplied to porsche dealers. I can see that the individual dealer filled in the book and that the book was pre numbered.

Also the next service book (i have seen them maked in roman numerals 2) once the first book was filled can they be obtained as a reproduction these days, or does any one have one (to sell)

Thank you in advance

Karkex listed the Service Booklet Number.

The Service Booklets with the coupons for service were numbered, and that number was recorded on the kardex at KD-heft-Nr._______. This allowed for keeping records of warranty service to a particular car. The Kardex would tie the Service Booklet number to the chassis number and motor number. Presumably the dealer, distributor, or ultimately the factory used this information to track problems, and the system could relate the problem warranty service, or just regular service to a particular car.

Not that I know of. Would be a tough reproduction! Not seen much of a market for such.
