Bob and ALL,
Please go to the new website and enter your cars into the VIN History Records where at the end of the entering process you can enter engines and transmissions that you want or are wishing to sell. That will allow every member to instantly search for engines and transmissions.

On the new website, click "profile" at the top right, click "vin history records", click "add 356". It is pretty easy. Please follow the instructions on each page.

There are approximately 900 posts here. Each of you should enter your cars into the new website along with the engine number and transmission number that you need. Likewise you should list the numbers of the engines and transmissions that you would be willing to sell.

I'm trying to enter the data. But on the second page (configuration?) even though I enter all data I still get ERROR, but there is no error indicated on the page.

The questions with the red dot must be answered. There are only a few of those on the first two pages. If they are not answered you will get an error and when you click to acknowledge the error you will see the problem answer. Correct that and continue. You must click save, not exit, when you are finished all of the pages and wish to save your entry. Otherwise you must start over again. Sort of easy? I am at Disney so I am not as responsive as usual but please email me if you continue to have problems. You can hit save and come back to edit your entry as many times as you wish.

there are no red dots on the page. I have answered every question. I can't go forward or backwards. If I try to login again I am brought to the same page and cannot proceed.

The club supports members working together to reunite engines/transmissions with the original cars. We now have a new tool on our website for this purpose, the Chassis Number History database, found here: https://porsche356registry.org/content. ... _id=478277

Currently there is a manual process requiring me or others to receive emails, validate membership, and edit the lists in the forum. Now it is self-service, so we can focus on other work (and occasionally have time for fun with our 356).

There is a help document here on how to use Chassis Number History:

If you no longer have a car but have engines or transmissions to list, you can create a record for a previously owned car. If you have problems or questions, you can reach out to Cliff Murray at cliffmurray@porsche356registry.org

To make the transition happen, it is necessary to lock this thread and no longer allow posts on the forum for this activity. The forum lists of “for sale” and “wanted” will remain for a while but will be removed sometime in 2022. (Don’t worry we will preserve the data)

Please bite the bullet and create entries in Chassis Number History at your earliest convenience.
