Pictures of 356's in original paint colors
This thread is to visually see what an original 356 paint color looks like on an actual 356. Perhaps it will help people choose a color they like on the car instead of on a paint chip.
Please post the color & paint code

Smyrna Green
Mark, are you sure that's Smyrna 6210? It looks more like Auratium 5712, an earlier T5 color.
I know lighting and camera can both have big effects on perceived color.
Here's three in Smyrna: one off the web, one at Monterey last year (outside, bright sun) and mine,
dreadfully locked inside where only un-natural fluorescent light reaches the paint.
All three of these appear to have more blue in the color than your example.
I know mine is correct as we had both original Glasurit chips and some original finish inside measured to ensure a perfect match.
Mr. White, any chance of accurately posting some scans of your collection of factory color charts?

Another Smyrna Green example
Mark, I don't think the photos you posted looks like Smyrna Green at all...but the color does change in different light. Your photos are in bright sun, mine on a cloudy day, and the other post of Smyrna Green has examples inside.
I've owned my Cab since 1992 and seen 3 other cars. We just repainted my Cab off an untouched spot of the original...and I think it's consistent with the other cars I've seen.
Of course, the colors did vary a small amount, even when new. Chuck Stoddard told me once that he would receive multiple Ruby red cars in a shipment from Porsche, and they wouldn't be exactly the same color.
On top of that, you have all kinds of variations due to digital cameras, scanners, and monitors.
See photo...

I might be wrong...According to the paint charts that would be Smyrna Green. I will say the pictures were taken in extremely sunny conditions. Which may have distored the color. I will contact the owner of the notchback to verify. Once I confirm or deny I will edit the post to reflect the correct answer.
Thanks guys,
Mark

Here is another green - Fjord Green
The factory loved greens. Here is my fjord green 58 Speedster, almost finished with a 2+ year restoration. The color was triple matched to original paint samples from three cars (this was its original color). I'm including multiple photos because the color (green but with noticeable hint of blue) looks surprisingly different under various lighting conditions.

Ours is 6404, light ivory. Or at least it's as close as we can come to it. We didn't paint the dash, and the glove compartment door looks like it. The car had been (badly) painted in the 70's, so there were actually two layers of paint to strip before it was restored. Interior is black leather, like the original.
Incidentally, that panel wasn't painted partly because it didn't need it badly enough to justify removing the autocross and rally badges Hubby earned in the late 60's. He bought the car in '67.
I should mention that the interior of our car has never been repainted, so it's as good a color match that can be made, given age and possible sun fading.

My Aquamarine blue 59 coupe. Built in December 58. Repainted twice but the dash is still original aquamarine. First repaint in 72 last one in 01.
It has never been restored just well maintained though the original engine is out for rebuild but the 1720 with Solex PII40's does quite well. Second picture sans snow was ECH 2007

If I had known I would live this long I would have pushed the envelope a little harder.
