356 in Austria, Garage Pics

#1 Post by Erich Wagner »

Life is not easy for a 356 in Austria. But sometimes...there is no way.

Yes, the rear side Window is missing. Don't ask how much snow is in the car.....

Erich-
If you ever come to my place again I am going to have Big John rip your arms off and beat you with them.
I sell you my baby, 212104, a matching #s slate gray coupe, and you leave it out in the snow.

I am going to let cats sleep in the car you have at my place now, stinky cats.

There's these really great things called TARPS which, when used properly, can actually keep the snow off of your car. These can usually be found at hardware stores for very little money.

Adam, i know you couldn't do this. You love 356s too much...or not?? Do i need a bodyguard when i go to Gloversville????
The car was picked up yesterday and the guy started with the restoration today. See Picture below with car on truck.

It was a challange to get this car on the truck.
I rented a garage now to work on my #84032 which i bought last year in the US after the visit in Laguna Seca. I could not resist any more.... It's a shame that this cars got so expensive.

It seems like i have to go back to the start lane. Rent a garage, repair my welding machine, install some lights a.s.o. to be able to start with my speedster.
Yes, it has rust.... and sometimes it's out in the snow too....together with my 52 Coupe and the Turbos. Snow is just frozen water...not acid. What did people with the 356s in the 50s or 60s ??

This was my old "garage". Right, i had no garage. Yes thats me under the 356 at -11° Celsius. rrrrrrr.

Two years ago i had no Porsche and i made only one mistake.... i made a three month trip to the USA. Check out what happened since then...

Some guys say i am crazy.... Why ??

Hi, Erich,

Yes, you're certifiable. Welcome to the asylum which takes care of your addiction. We're on the 12 step program here, and I can see that you have passed through the first 10 steps. Hmmm... Let me count 'em again - 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10. Yup. Welcome home! :D

Carl-
Yes, I keep cars outside, parts cars, and I put car covers on them to protect them, not leave the windows open.

Eric, you can bring a bodyguard, but can he do what Big John can do?

Do you have any more pics of the yellow car? I'm assuming it's Champagne Yellow?

Carl... i forgot to mention that there are 6 Porsches on the way to me... So what is the next step when i reached the 12 ?? or 16 now ? (Should i go to the doc ??)
Check out the pictures. By the way you own a WONDERFUL car. I would not be able to restore a car like you have done.

Hey Mike, i think you are right but PLEASE don't talk to my girlfriend

Adam is right with the Champagne Yellow car. It was original red.

The 6 Wheel car is also mine. It's a "Pinzgauer" and you don't need Streets with this car. Just go with a compass.. I drove it last week when we had a very very bad snowstorm. We had 37 inches (!!!) of snow here in lower Austria. Of course i had 6 chains on but i could not open the doors because of the snow. (And---of course it's made in Austria like THE number 1-356)

My A-Coupe which i bought in Vancouver from a very nice guy.

That's how most of my cars arrive...
Image

My girlfriend is always friendly..... She was sitting in a car without brakes, without windshield and she is still laughing.
Image

Yes i know that i am not in Texas but i had no other Number Plates for this 914-6 to bring it home. I prefer 356s but this car is a fun to drive. It's equipped with a 3-Liter with 226HP and LSD.
Image

My "new" 54 1500 Super which is waiting in MA for pick up.
Image

Yes...my 52 out in the snow... (Iknow wrong flash lights)
Image

I always hope and pray that there are cars in the container not STONES :P
Image

(Would like to some pictures from YOU too !!)

All the Best,
eric

Erich, What year is the maroon car in your Aviator. I have a 52 (11438)that should be a body bumper , but it has a later rear clip. I'm unsure weather the tailights should be side to side like yours or rectangle on top of beehive. Further info would be helpful.

Hy Mark,

my 52 is #11822 and i am not sure if the Flashlights and the Taillights are correct. It's a 12 year old restauration which was done in Salt Lake City where i bought the car. Check out the Pictures.
When you sent me your message i jumped under my car to check if i find any evidence of a "wrong" thing. It seems like my car has a different rear clip so it's not sure if this bumpers and the taillights are original. The bumbers lookt too nice to me to be original 1952.... I hope this helped a little. Let me know if you need any picture. What is you VIN ?

Regards,
eric
