Reproduction Generator/Fan belts vs/Original Comparison, and a compliment to Paul Hatfield

#1 Post by Benjamin Abraham »

First,
My compliments to Paul Hatfield for being part of our hobby and 356 Community.

Below is one of Paul's reproduction (and entirely usable) generator/fan belt. I currently have one of his belts in my 1959 356A Coupe with the original engine.

The information is 100% as the original. The color of the label is a bit brighter than the original, but then again it is newer. The size of the label is larger than the original, but I have seen an original belt with a larger label (did not have one handy when I took this photo).

What I like about Paul's belts is that they can fill the void in your tool kit, or be used in your car. I have bought several Generator/Fan Belts from him, he ships super-fast and I am 100% satisfied with the entire experience in dealing with Paul.

I will definitely buy from him in the future, and this is a great resource for all those who would like to get something that is both reproduction and usable.

Thank you Paul for your attention to detail and being an invaluable part of our hobby. I look forward to dealing with you in the future.

-Ben

+1 on Paul's belts. I've purchased two and I'm very pleased with them.

Thanks to Paul and the rest of you that continue to reproduce parts for our 356's.

+2 for Paul’s fan belts, pulled the whole motor together (along with the other details by Deluxe Customs). And thank you Paul for the tip to use nail polish to change the date code from “3/06” to “3/01” for our car built in March of ‘63.

Thank you all for the nice compliments. I now have quite a few artwork designs available, including two different 2-piece Pre-A belts, one design for late Pre-A 3 piece engines through 356 A, one for 356 B, one for 356 C, and 2 for early 911. All are made from brand new belts, and good for engine or tool kit. Glad to hear they are being used.

How great does that look?...to see the "PORSCHE" name on the belt! Fantastic photos.

I would love to see more photos of Paul's belts in the engine compartments. I will post mine when it comes back from a rebuild ;)

The manufacturer changed the "art" on these belts pretty regularly. Great to have at least one version of the art on these belts reproduced. Clearly there were other versions. Thanks for the comparison.

I have Paul's fan belts on all my restorations. Mostly Pre-A cars. Get them now, as this kind of detailed "Stuff" will soon disappear. All of my gang is on the low end of the candle. The cars however will never go out of favor. ………………………...Jim.
