Hello to everyone!

After several years this is the current state my 356 is in.
Moving along slowly but I believe quality work.

I would like to ask for your help in locating sound deadening insulation for the engine bay. Any suggestions on where to locate a complete set that resembles the original?

Also looking for the rubber seals that go under the square part of the exterior door handles.
I got the whole set and unfortunately it came with the oval shape that goes on the T2.

Thank you!

the square handle rubber is widely available.
i got mine from International mercantile
question.. where did you get your trans cover ?
I have completed my restoration.. with a few still outstanding items, one is that trans cover, mine is different.. and not correct..
if you need any reconstruction pictures.. let me know.

That looks impressive, very nice work! Make sure you test fit the engine with the large oil filler before slamming the engine lid closed !

Large oil filler is only a problem on the single-grill open cars.

Stoddard is out of stock on the square door handle rubbers. I got mine a few days ago from International Mercantile. Call them.

Hello Jim,

I got the tunnel cover from
info@vintagetoys.it
Several years ago for 140 Euro. They are in Italy.
Hope this helps.

Apart from the sound deadening kit for the engine bay I am looking for, I also have a set of Carrera GS gauges that I would ideally like to trade in for a full set of refurbished A+ condition gauges for my car. (In Kms).
I could recondition these but maybe someone is interested in original Carrera instruments.
Any suggestions on that?

Answered in post #36.
Chris; I can't tell from the photo, but are your upper trans mount bolts installed correctly? With bolt head inside the case. Otherwise you won't get your engine in.

Turn the upper mount bolts around. Bolt head inside the case, NO washer. Washer and nut OUTSIDE the case.

I see that you have the metal cups for the transmission mounts
Question for you / others.. were these metal cups on all cars ? when I originally got my car it did not have them, but my rebuilder (jack Morris) did put them on for me.
I am wondering if they were on specific years, or on all 356's ?

They were not on the early 1956 cars.
