Thank You, Jim Kellogg
I am sad to post that Jim Kellogg, the owner of 356Restore and author of the "Porsche 356, Guide to Do It Yourself Restorations" passed away Monday Dec 2nd due to complications of throat and lung cancer.
He read the 356Talk every afternoon after working in the shop. Somethings he agreed with, others he would simple say "That is a different way of doing it", but he enjoyed your friendships by emails, calls or in person the most of all.
356Restore is still working out of Jim's basement and garage in Parker Colorado and is being run up by his son, BJ Kellogg.
There will be a private family service soon but anyone who would care to make a donation to the RPM Foundation in JIm Kellogg's name can do so by using this link:
https://rpm.foundation/donations/
There you will be directed to a site where you can complete the donation and leave a note detailing that the donation is in Jim's memory.
Anyone who would rather not use the website can send donations to this address:
RPM Foundation

Thank you for your kind thoughts and prayers, BJ Kellogg

Re: Thank You, Jim Kellogg
BJ,
I'm very sorry to hear of this. I read posts on Jim's website for many years and bought his latest Do It Yourself Restoration Guide when it first came out.
This has helped me greatly over the years in restoring my 64 and 65 C coupes.
I have also bought parts from Jim at Registry holidays, and I found him to be a warm, very friendly, and helpful person.
He has contributed immeasurably to the 356 community for many years and will be sorely missed by us all.
My sincere regrets and condolences to you and your family,
Dave

Sad. He was a big part of the 356 scene. Most of us have his books and that they exist is a big help to us and future restorers. Maybe he and Bill Fry are bench racing in heaven? Let's hope.

Prayers for Jim and his family. I would not have tried many of the tasks, needed to keep my cars going, without Jim's knowledge and excellent presentation. A teacher's teacher.

Re: Thank You, Jim Kellogg
I had the privilege of meeting Jim Kellogg at the West Coast Holiday in Sedona Arizona. I bought a pair of headlight grills from him, but more importantly a fabulous conversation on the the history of the grills themselves. He loved talking 356 and was very good at welcoming new comers. We’ve lost another great 356 treasure. RIP Jim.

Dammit!
Jim was always a pleasure to speak with, always helpful. I had no idea there were health issues and can only hope there was minimal pain and further wish the best for his family.
RIP.

I'm very sorry to hear of your Dad's passing BJ. He was true gentleman and it's been a pleasure to deal with the two of you over the years. Godspeed.
