Bosch Horns....any good copies?
My 62 356 has amazing Bosch horns. They are loud and low/deep and the two tones really make them sing out.
My XKE has horns made by the prince of darkness and they are weak, too high pitched, and probably likely to fail like every other product made by the prince.
I’d actually like to create a ripple in the time space continuum by putting Bosch horns on my XKE.
The real Bosch horns appear to be quite expensive. Are there any good clones or replicas that work well at a lower price?
Thanks!!

If you aren't concerned about original look, Hella makes some loud 12V horns. I have a pair on my Toyota Tacoma. Wolo horns resemble the Bosch horns except they have chrome grills. The connections are spade rather than screw terminals.

Stoddard sells 12v repros, with stud and nut connections instead of factory set screw style.

Jeffery Fellman at Classico wheels sells exact replicas of the 356 6 volt Bosch horns right down to the screws.

Unless he just changed them Jeff’s have VW style flat blade connectors. He says you can put on the originals, but I don’t see how you could do that.

Re: Bosch Horns....any good copies?
Martin, you're right. I forgot about the connectors.
I know that I had a set on my Roadster and I also had installed a new wiring harness. I don't remember what I did to rectify, because I would not have wanted to cut the harness. I have the slightest of memory that I "might of" made another short wire with the female flat blade on one end and a flat screw connector like the original on the other and used a small machine screw to tie the two connectors together than shrink wrapped the screwed together connectors to hide and protect them.
So I amend my last post. They are exact replicas but different.

Re: Bosch Horns....any good copies?
Thanks for all the info everyone. I’m not concerned about the look as they won’t be visible in the XKE. I just want to get the loudest and deepest horns south of air horns. Oddly my 356 horns are the best I’ve ever heard. Not really wanting to spend $300 at the moment for horns though.

Hey Craig,
If you find any that you really like, post it here. I have an XKE also and remember that I was never real happy with the horns.

Loudest on the market, quite different than the 356 Bosch, is this at 150 dB see https://carcaretotal.com/best-car-horn/#11203012%20 which is about as loud as on a diesel locomotive. $48 on Amazon

When the original horn on my 58 VW bug died, I installed a 6V J.C. Whitney "Ah-OOGAH" horn, which got lots of attention.

Re: Bosch Horns....any good copies?
Thanks again to all. I’m going to try these Wolo horns which are copies of the Bosch. I will report back.

You could just paint the grill black, and it would look very very close ??
