Huschke von Hanstein 356 T5 found
Tom Spiegel from Hales Corners Wisconsin recently found out that his early 1960 T5 Ruby Red coupe was originally owned by non other than Porsche legend Huschke von Hanstein.
Tom has owned the car 45 years and never knew this until recently when he obtained his Kardex.
Tom has asked me to post this for him and he would like people to please call him if they can provide any pictures of Huschke with the car or any other information that may be helpful.
Tom prefers a phone call .

It might help if you listed the VIN, someone might have info in their records under the VIN, also not knowing it was once owned by The Baron.

Fritz Huschke Von Hansetein, is his real name. He was a high ranking Nazi. He was the commandant of a Jewish prison (read extermination) camp in Poland for the duration of the war. al zim

I had never read that, where did you reference the info? I do know he was sponsored by the Nazi's while racing.

Al,
Could you post some info to prove what you are alleging?
I have never heard anything like that about him before.

I believe that there are various documents that support this. I think one was in the book Camp Men which is an overview of commanders of concentration camps. You may also want to read about Jocheim Pieper who worked for Porsche. Mike Robbins purchased his 904 from him. I have a picture in my office of him standing close to Heinrich Himmler and Adolph. In the same picture is one of the Panzier commanders who was executed on 17 May 1945. Pieper was know as the blow torch and directly commanded a SS division that killed 10 of thousands of Russian non combatants. I would like to see a list of Porsche employees from the mid 1950's and see how many of them were SS members as was his nephew. Dr. Porsche was a Major in the SS and his son Ferry was in the SS also. In a special awards ceremony towards the middle of the war DR. Porsche received a special medal/award from Goering. al zim

Al,
I totally agree with you regarding Jocheim Pieper. He was probably responsible for the massacre at Malmedy (Belgium) in which scores of Americans were murdered. I've been to the site and museum there.
I have a friend who purchased a new 1965 911 from him. He still has the original documents signed by Pieper.
BTW, Pieper was murdered at his home in France after the war.
That being said, I've never heard anything regarding your allegations regarding Von Hanstein. Please lead me to the info in the web or elsewhere.

Malmady ! that was not on my mind. Piper also led the Panzer attack through the Ardiens forest in December 1944

Al,
That's correct about Pieper leading tanks during the Battle of the Bulge. That's when and where the Malmady atrocity occurred.

Re: Huschke von Hanstein 356 T5 found
Al, I was unfamiliar with the book The Camp Men and didn't have a copy in my library. But I ordered a copy and can't find a mention of the Racing Baron. The book looks very detailed and even has a section on SS officers that came from the nobility, and no mention there either. You might want to retract your statement since the book you used as source material does not back up your claim.

Interesting link below to a thread regarding the Barons automotive history. Also covers numerous other German drivers.
Does not appear that he was a camp commander.
