Award for Mike Horton

#1 Post by Spike Jones »

Hi Folks,
This morning, Mike Horton was awarded an FAA special award for 50 years as a certified aircraft mechanic.
Since Mike is an active poster on the Registry, I thought some of you might be interested to know about this.
Mike has been a friend for many years and a tremendous asset to me and to many others both on this Forum and the 912 Forum.
He's one of the good guys, always willing to share his encyclopedic knowledge of 356's & 912's and the air-cooled engines which power them.
If he's helped you, give him a shout-out!

Good job Mike, as a former aircraft tech I know how hard it is to keep from screwing up for so many years when you know that one mistake could kill many people.
If I had known I would live this long I would have pushed the envelope a little harder.

I am proud to consider Mike as one of my friends. I have been to the place where he and his dad did a whole lot of wrenching. He is, simply put, a very professional mechanic and I would not hesitate to be on a plane he serviced or drive in a car he said was ready to go across the country.
Way to go Mike!
