Cliff, it’s not unfriendly to say ignorant . Ignorant means lack of knowledge. I’m ignorant on many things. That’s very different than for example calling someone stupid.
I was unaware of this.

And frankly saying it’s not a Porsche was deliberately ignorant - or inflammatory.
Confused, is that a compliment?

More importantly, you made up a definition of what a Porsche should be - factory stock - in order to be deemed a Porsche.
Everybody has their own definition. I don't mind modifications, you don't mind a non-Porsche engine and other extreme modifications but you may not go so far as the A coupe with the Chevy Big Block with the blower. Just differing opinions. Not ignorance.

The difference is you declared it wasn’t a Porsche. That is your subjective opinion that runs contrary to what the vast majority of informed people would think. And do you really know the build to make a non ignorant assertion of fact? All those pieces are Porsche pieces. Even the original polo motor was a sectioned 3.2 liter - I know, I owned that one. All the internals Porsche. Would you feel differently if it had been the entire 6 cylinder Porsche put in there? Instead of cut down?
What makes you the decider of the Porsche label ? I say it’s a Porsche. The VIN and the DMV say that.
If you talk in absolutes you are rightfully subject to criticism. And no, I wasn’t trying to compliment you. Be open minded, embrace change, accept others trying to push the boundaries. Feel free to state your opinion that you prefer stock cars versus modified outlaws but don’t damn them by saying they aren’t.
A valid criticism would be to ask whether they have lost the driving feel and Indeed soul of the original. If one merely asserted that without having driven one it would be an uninformed (ignorant) opinion. After driving one it becomes an informed opinion. But that indeed would be a legitimate question and concern and probably eternal you meant?
Finally I’m a preservation class freak, with some cool preservation class cars. I understand the appeal. But there is room in our hobby for everyone.
So let’s drive and have fun! I put over 12 hours of seat time over the last few days in my 1970 911S targa. A/c would have been nice at times!

See, now that's just ignorant.
That is not a very friendly attitude from a fellow "Registry brother".
Cliff,
Your comment was ignorant, that wasn't meant as an insult. But in terms of being friendly to a fellow Registry Brother, you have a long history of making snide remarks and throwing civility out the window on this forum, so you can't run roughshod over people here and then pretend your feelings are hurt when someone disagree's with you. You can't have it both ways. Either come out of your face and take the heat, or respect your fellow man and receive respect in return.

Hi Cliff
I think we should adopt a hyphenated nomenclature. ie Emory-Porsche, Elva-Porsche(my idea of an awesome car), Porsche-Devin(Greg's Cambel's) Devin-Porsche(yours) and use the Porsche-Outlaw for attempts to create something from a true Porsche.

IMO it's more like plastic surgery than a sex change. All the women in Hollywood who have been "enhanced" are still women. There's a long history of car guys taking all makes and increasing horsepower, brakes and handling. It's what we do.

Very good suggestion! I see the Porsche-Devin vs Devin-Porsche subtle difference and agree. I think there will be cries of "ignorance" at your use of Emory-Porsche as opposed to using Porsche-Emory. Let's step back and see who is offended this time.
