Looks like someone typed a bad bid in, it shot from $140,000 to 1,410,000.

Hi John
well it could have a real 547/6 1750 4-Cam from the same period or even use 908/916/917 cylinder heads and cut down cams/housing to make it a 4-Cam "Polo".

Hi Adam
Maybe it is for real. I know that Stanley Gold may want it and if the Sinefeld buys back his green Speedster that guy might want another one. in any case I think speedsters are overvalued vs coupes and cabs .

Hey guys...it’s my old speedster. It’s not a Carrera. It has a polo motor in it, which is a newly cast block to make a 4 cylinder 911 engine based on the 3.2’s. Really nice build by Rod Emory but that was a bad bid that has since been rescinded. Funny, I just bought a Carrera last year from Stanley Gold.

I agree, that's why I drive a Roadster and sell Speedsters when I find them. Can't understand paying double to triple for the same amount of fun.

Adam - under that logic drive a Miata! My mom’s first generation is even more fun. But almost all 356 roadsters are B’s so not quite as sexy and the lower windshield of the speedster is perfect combined with speedster seats... plus 200 lbs lighter. But I love roadsters too! So I understand your point perfectly. You’ll get your money back plus with either.

I actually think that the roadster is MORE fun than the speedster! More comfortable seats, more wind protection, better shifter, more powerful engine, and those headlights are higher so one can see better at night (LOL)

The "A" cab to me is still the best of them all. I lusted after one when living in Germany in 63 thru 67 but with 2 kids there was no way to justify it. It has wind up windows and a heater that works well in warm weather plus a superb soft top that also keeps you warm in not so cold weather and a windshield that actually protects you. I eventually got one more than 30 years later in 99.

If I had known I would live this long I would have pushed the envelope a little harder.

Emory is doing lots of cool thing and obviously has extraordinary talent, I would love to be lucky enough to have one of his creations.

Still think the Ultimate Speedster is one pretty much like the factory intended, with an old pushrod or Carrera engine.

Hi David, We Jones boys agree on the "A" cab being the best!
Have loved my '58 "A" cab since I bought it in 1983. Lots of good memories of "comfortable" road trips!
