T-6 B Fiberboard Battery Cover

#1 Post by Edwin Ek »

Is it held in place with a rubber strap like the C, hard plastic version? Or is it just pressed on?

There were two differnt types, Ed. One actually had clips, the other more common one used the same rubber strap as the windshield washer reservoir.

Mike, I am asking about the cover for the battery, not the fusebox cover.

Sorry, Ed, I misread your post. The '62 only fiberboard cover...Peter is correct.

Mike
Here is the one with clips. No you can understand why the cover has those flat spots.

Jim,

Many thanks for posting these pictures. Do you have any idea about what the (DIN?) specification is for the clips? It seems unlikely that Porsche would order or make custom hardware like this.

Thanks,
Ed

Thanks for the pics, Jim. Any idea on what year(s) or models they were installed on?

All the best!

Mike, on all early T-6 cars. I guess, emphasis on guess, that the clips and fusebox posts were gone by the Spring or early Summer of 1962. My car, made in February of 1962, has them.

I agree with Ed. I don't think they made it to the spring of 62, though.

Ciao

My friend's early calendar year '62 does not have the clips.
