Aerial hole on right side hinge post

#1 Post by Brett Johnson »

Here's an easy one. You just need to open the right side door and look. If your car is older than 1957, you probably don't need to, but if it has one let me know! The photo below shows one on a 356C. There should be one on the left side that looks the same, but I don't need to know about that one.

"Porsche" (nee Reutter) C, #130666 had that and an antenna fitted on that side.

Lest everybody think that all cars have them 118432 11/17/61 Reutter coupe has no hole. So far all Karmann coupes and all 356Cs seem to have them on both sides.

You have to wonder about Reutter RHD cars destined for Australia or the U.K. I always thought it appropriate to have the antenna where the driver could reach and extend it.

'64 C Coupe 218012 has a hole on both sides and the antenna mounted on the passenger side. No evidence of there ever being a hole in the driver's side fender.

Interesting info. It reinforces my mantra: "Porsche...consistently inconsistent..."

Since the RHD subject has come up, 101692 -- the last 356A T 1 has one.
