1954 Pre-A typ 546 1500cc 2pc. Porsche Engine

#1 Post by Joe Ruiz »

Started up this Pre-A 1500cc typ 546 2pc. engine today for a gentleman's 1954 coupe in Switzerland.
Purrs like a kitten at idle and roars like a lion at throttle!

Joe,
This is beautiful and am impressed with your use of Alodine. I tried once and gave up quickly!

Hi Dave,

The person that does the treatment on my magnesium blocks does not use Alodine.
Alodine is used primarily on aluminum.

Joe:

That is excellent work indeed. Nice to see the attention to details. Just collecting the parts for one of those engines is an accomplishment.

It's a (3) part process once the block is prepared correctly. I'm not a chemist and I don't ask since he works for an aerospace company
that is contracted by the U.S. Government. Besides, chemicals are dangerous and wouldn't even think of doing this myself.....

Again- great work Joe. As for the belts, first batch of 2 piece case belts should be done this week or early next week. Contact me off-line with questions or to order.

Hi Frank,
This is a DANSK muffler that has been pre fitted and ceramic coated. Thanks.
