Ray - I think you'll need a picture to get a response ...

Original for my 1956 four studs threaded. one about a half inch from each end, one at the P and one at the E.

the repros are painted silver today, and have been for years. Is/was there a repro like this one with silver & gold plating like the originals? Do all originals have the circled "R"?

I just recently traded my last original and don't have a picture. I have a repro and it looks identical to your picture.
The original that I had, did have the circled "R".

It is real. Not all had an R in the back. I took mine out of the Porsche wrapper twenty years ago to install on my 58, No R on the back. The first 3 or 4 hundred speedsters had a machined not pebbled finish, all were threaded . I still have an early machined one and 4 originals.

Thanks, good to know.
All my other original ones were circle "R"
I will look at my other one without the " R" maybe it might be an original then.
