Wheels
If your a 1000% has to be original guy, cover your eyes........ 8)
Which I usually am, except maybe this one item!! I saw a 912 recently with Original Look polished Alloy wheels.
I searched around and I can find 5 x 205 Polished Alloy wheels but not 5x130 for my 65' C.. Has anybody seen these for sale?
Of course I'll keep the original chrome steel to throw on but for my driver these would be nice..

Re: Wheels
I recently bought a set off TheSamba and mounted them over the weekend to see how they look. They look fantastic but the offset makes it a tight fit on my passenger side wheel arch. I may have to go for 175 or 165 section tires instead of 185 to get a little extra room. Lowering the car an inch or so might help both looks and clearance.
Mine look like the brushed C model on the Alloy Wheels site but they need a good cleaning. I'll see if I can post a pic later.
I can only imagine new ones are very expensive. I paid $2,000 for mine and they're used.

Re: Wheels
In 2014, the price for 4 drum-brake wheels was $2,700. Custom offsets and widths are available for more money.

Re: Wheels
Bill they are commonly available in the aftermarket, we sell them in fact as an inexpensive alternative to the original ones. Empi makes them and they are readily available: (just for reference not trying to sell anything!!!!). http://www.autoatlanta.com/Porsche-911- ... R9680.html

Re: Wheels
Bill, there are many wheels on the VW aftermarket, like these that have problems fitting over the B drums. A Drums are fine, but B drums are a problem. Do you research before you buy.Bill Lawless wrote:FYI, I was thinking of get these for my T5 B... Price seams quite good:

Re: Wheels
I was told mine were alloyreplicas brushed finish wheels when I bought them. $2700 doesn't sound too bad for what you're getting if that's the new price. I might have just sprung for the extra $700 and gotten clean ones if I were to do it over. Did you ever confirm pricing with them, Bill?
Attached is a shot of one of the wheels I picked up.

"Bill, We do a 15x5 standard and they run $4600 shipped. If you want the 5.5" wide they can be custom made for an additional $900."

Re: Wheels
Zoinks! That'll put a ding in your wallet. There was a C coupe for sale at our local Porsche dealer for a while, signal red I think, and it had the alloyreplica wheels on them. When they're clean, they look fantastic. They just look slightly different, a little cooler than stock.Bill Lawless wrote:Yes, This was the reply from alloyreplicas.... $5K is big bucks, but then I paid $4K for a set of replica GT seats. If you want the look you gotta pony up I guess.

Re: Wheels
Bill:You might want to ask how much for 15x6". When you start getting 1/2" increments I think the price goes up. I bought a set of 15x7" for my 64C a while back maybe 4 yrs ago $3700. Worth every penny. After a while the sting goes away! Mike
