T 6 Roadster fresh air valve

#1 Post by Brett Johnson »

The parts manual says T 6 Roadsters have fresh air valves. Anybody have one?

Brett

Send me a email and I will send better photos with a boreascope I never paid attention to them, but they look just like a T-2 vent.

This is really strange. These type of vents were used through the 356A (though disabled on Speedsters) to allow fresh air to enter the heated air channel. They were not continued on T 5 cars and when T 6 cars got the cowl vents and new fresh air system, they put the old style back on Roadsters only! Who thought that was a good idea?

The PET full of surprises like 644.542.041.41, and. 042.41 roadster power windows.

I think the lack of cowl vents on the roadster, is a windshield frame strength thing, no structure like the CAB.

While I'm at it, I should ask if your current or former T 6 Roadster has a hand throttle?

Have been mining in Registry back issues and came up with 89650 and 89809 which both have hand throttles, but no dashboard scripts. Is there a consensus on scripts? I'm now assuming all T 6 Roadsters have fresh air vents and hand throttles -- unless someone tells me differently.

There isn't consensus on dashboard scripts. There has been talk that European delivery cars have the script and US delivery cars don't. But I know a guy who has a European delivered car with no dashboard script.

It seems to me one way to tell is to examine the attachment holes. If the dashboard were made to accept a script, wouldn't the holes be pressed instead of drilled? But of course they could all be drilled.

Brett. 89805 was bare, no script, my other one 89758 had a script. There was a database (DB2 format, on 5-1/2" floppy disc) years ago from a guy up in Canada I think, it listed all the known T-6 cars and a detailed list of options. With or without script jwas one data column, I would say about 75% on the list had them

Do you remember if there any pattern? Like they ran out for a while?
