Distributor drive assembly

#1 Post by Jim Sorensen »

I believe the distributor drive was put in wrong when my 65C engine was rebuilt. When I put in the distributor the top dead center (closed valves on #1) mark and rotor were in the 11 o'clock position(looking from the top). Rather than go back into the engine, I took off the mating piece on the distributor (which is off center) and repositioned it 180 degrees. Everything seems OK and #1 cylinder now should fire at about 5 o'clock (or thereabouts). The engine is out of the car so I can't test it but was this a proper fix?

Does the rotor line up with the mark on the distributor body and piston on #1 is at TDC?

If I had known I would live this long I would have pushed the envelope a little harder.
