From my photos I can't be sure of these and although the only thing that's critical is making sure the earth is good it would be nice to get them in the correct area.
I think the fasteners were simple slotted self tappers and, as far as the positioning, in the front were on the horn brackets and on the rear they are close to the corners of the engine 'tray', is this correct?

Are you referring to grounding of the tail lights, front lights and signal horns?

Thanks Martin
I was asking Vincent to specify which electrical items are in question because some have a separate ground (earth) wire and some do not.

Hello Donald, yes you guessed correctly I'm wondering about the ground/earth connection for the headlights, indicators and horns and also the rear lights and reverse/number plate light. When I got the car they were earthed in the areas I mentioned but as KCT had a few front & rear 'dings' I thought I'd check if these connections and the slotted self tappers I found were what they would have been originally.
Thanks,
V

Vincent
The rear beehive lights and reverse light are grounded through their attachment to the body.
During installation of each light make sure at least one fastener contacts bare sheet metal.
Same applies to the front beehive lights.
The earth wires for the headlights and signal horns attach to the walls inside the battery box using an M5 slotted pan head screw, split lock washer and hex nut as shown below - - - - -

Confirming Donald's precise & accurate description for headlight & horn earth wires.
From my photo files of my '55 coupe with original wiring and body panels.

Thanks a mill to you both & perfect info, looks like one of the easier things for me to do. I was pretty sure with all the bumps and fixes over the years that no one would have bothered to put them where they should be.
