Le Mans 2018

#1 Post by Stephen Masefield »

I went over to Le Mans with some UK friends and drove to the circuit in their pre 1967 cars and buses. Wonderful experience and memories to last. This is an official Porsche video. I guess it really pays to know where & when to be at these events AND have an ALL ACCESS pass. Who is interested in 2020 ? Would love take my car and share the cost of a container (I think 4 fit)

Matt Hummel was camped next to us - here is the Porsche link to his current European escapade !

What ever your opinion of Matt I personally admire his "go for it "attitude in using these cars as they were, almost :-) intended for !!!
If you use Instagram he is @hummul - his blog and pictures of (his still current) Europe tour is interesting to say the least !

Hi Steven
You just had to be there to appreciate it all. What an amazing week down at Circuit Le Sarthe.
Went down there on the Wednesday in our old 1955 Bristol 2 Litre saloon instead of the 356. It was a tough call, but all the extra space just tipped it in the Bristol's favour and camped in Maison Blanche. What with socialising and just so much to see and cover , there just wasn't enough time to see it all ! This event should be an annual meeting, not every 2 years.
Cheers Jay

Jay I am envious. I have always loved the Bristol 40x series and the 403 and the other cars from that era were part of my dream garage. I was fortunate to own a couple of Jowett Javelins back in the past which was a comparable car but you are right the Bristol 403 would be a better car if you had a lot of stuff to carry on a vacation though I did once take a vacation in the West of England in a 63 356B with wife and two kids with a suitcase on the boot rack and lots of pillowcases stuffed with clothes wherever they could be squeezed in.
You may appreciate the attached pictures from last weekend at the Keeneland concours event.

If I had known I would live this long I would have pushed the envelope a little harder.
