T-6 Hand Throttle miracle

#1 Post by Harald Brudl »

Hi,

I'm (still) in the process of restoring #155.607 (T-6 Cab) and have trouble connecting the hand throttle Bowden cable to the mechanism in the center tunnel.
There is a slightly longer version for T-5 cars (length 850 mm, 695 424 031 00) but I have the - correct for my T-6 car - shorter version (660 mm, 695 424 031 02) which isn't long enough to reach where it should go.
I assume the guide tube (695 424 331 00 for LHD cars) is used with some more steel wire to extend the hand throttle cable but as much as I've tried, I failed to find a picture where and how this guide tube is mounted so far (presumably somewhere under the tank floor?). My tank floor was recreated from scratch by the body shop and wouldn't have any holes or bolts to figure this out (original didn't survive, of course).

Below is a link to a post with a picture of said guide tube:

Could anybody please post a picture (or a few ... ;o) of the T-6 hand throttle cable as seen from the floor looking up?

Thanks in advance from Vienna/Austria/Europe - KTF,

Harry

Hi again,

anyone with a T-6 with hand throttle installed: please help?

I really tried to research this, but wading through all the related posts didn't reveal anything ...

Thanks in advance,

Harry

I noticed that there appear to be hand throttle pics on page 20 that might help. https://porsche356registry-production-p ... 1396814868

Another miracle solved!
Special thanks goes to John - your 1st picture shows exactly what I needed to confirm what I already suspected, but could not find: the tube I had filed under "mystery parts" is the missing link between the shorter Bowden cable of the T6 hand throttle and the mechanism near the accelerator pedal.

I should definitely have taken more pictures back in 1997 when I took the car apart ... no digital cameras, no internet - how did you manage your restos without that ? :o)

@Doug: sorry, 2nd place only - pictures don't show the Bowden cable. BIG thanks to you anyway - best regards from where it all began: Austria KTF,

Harry

All's well that ends well. I have never had a car with a hand throttle just a C guy.
