356C Cabriolet Convertible Top Lowering Instructions

#1 Post by Eric Decetis »

I've had a coupe for years but the Cab is new to me. When lowering the top does the back window need to be unzipped and fit into the "pocket" before the top is lowered?

Thanks in advance as usual for your input!

Eric :D

Eric,

The procedure is to unlatch the three latches at the top bow/windshield frame, then unzip the back window completely and push it down and out of the way. Once done you can then lower the top and install the boot. Always use a boot unless you want to replace your headliner.

When raising the top it is basically in reverse order. Lift up the top to near the windshield frame, then zip up the window and then latch the three latches. The whole idea about not zipping or unzipping the rear window when the top is latched is that it puts too much stress on the zipper and it will fail.

i hope this helps!

Eric: I can only add that I have always cleaned my plastic window prior to lowering. It turns out that the plastic attracts fine dust and that can scratch the plastic. My plastic window is ten years old and is still crystal clear. Wipe it with anything wet with a little water and pat dry.
