345A rear Camber Compensator benefits etc.
Hi all,
I'm considering getting a rear camber compensator for my '58 Speedster.
Top two or three vendors?
Anyone using this on an A car or better yet Speedster?
I have the larger Willhoit front sway bar and I like that.
Easy install?
Thank you,
Steve

The original compensator did nothing to aid handling. It added support to the rear suspension to compensate for the rear of the car sitting lower.
The Vic Skirmants rear bar does improve handling and is well worth using.

You want Vic's Zbar. Not a compensator spring, it uses smaller torsion bars

The original does 'work', but not as well as Vic's improvement. Vic had the insight to use a linkage which forced the roll, rather than simply allow it. both work for the simple reason that the end of the car which 'rolls' easier than the other end sticks better than the other end, all else being equal. As an example, Moggie trikes 'push'.
Probably (like L&S pushrod tube extension) there were factory guys grinding their teeth wishing *they* had thought of that after Vic did.

You don't need softer torsion bars with my camber regulator. The ides is to prevent excessive "jacking up" of the rear wheels when cornering.

Hi Vic and others,
With this Z bar, can I count on more seat of the pants confidence with rear end stability?
Street version yes as I do spirited drives through the mountains and I think I know the capabilities of rear end stock set up.
Can you please give me install process in general?
Regards,
Steve

I have Vic's regulator on both of my cars and the transformation is fantastic. Cornering is much flatter and any wheel hop is gone. The effect on ride comfort is zero, it does not make anything stiffer or harsher so you still have that nice 356 smooth ride. Highly recommended.steve raucher wrote:Hi Vic and others,

I installed Vic's Camber Compensator along with Willhoit's 17MM sway bar and alloy wheels from Willhoit. Admittedly I retired the bumpers and lowered the seat (allowing my head to not stick up above the windshield). Vast improvement in the handling characteristics of the car at autocross. See before and after pics.

Thanks all for chiming in.
Just ordered Vic's camber regulator. Their off to the races this weekend so will have to wait to get it built and shipped to me.
Cheers,
Steve

Good going Steve! It will be well worth the wait. Be sure and post when you get it installed to let us know how you like it.

One of these is on the top of the want list for my car. Very nice upgrade.

Hey gear heads,
Although I've only had one spirited drive today through the mountains I can feel the difference and my confidence is higher now that the Camber Compensator has been installed.Installation was straight forward, although pictures are always of help.
Just knowing it's there now along with the bigger Willhoit front sway bar checks this bucket list deal off.
Hopefully in August a metal craftsman from Los Angeles will look into repairing rear flares finally. Then at some point I'd like to repaint car to original Ruby Red.
Cheers and gas it!
Steve

Steve.
Judging by the amount of positive feedback regarding your inquiry, you ought to be convinced that Vic's camber compensator is the ticket! I mounted it on my S-90 rdstr, and along with Wilhoit's 17mm sway bar, I am fairly 'glued' to the road. But I'm not as 'ballsy' as I was at an earlier age, so just knowing I'm sporting those two add-ons when hunting for the apexes in the twisties, allows me the confidence I'm going to own that corner and in the process gain a big-ass grin! Enjoy your car more, get one, amigo!
Best,
Frank Earle
