Hp is not the issue it's Torque a 140 hp engine that develops its max below 5000RPM has more torque than a 185hp full race 904. the other severity issues are the driver and the condition of the box.

Agreed. Dumping the clutch even with a stock engine can lead to problems; ask me how I know.

Speaking of dumping the clutch, I always get a kick out of this period article on how to ignore what factory and dealer network mechanics say, and just roll your own in terms of tuning the engines. Notice the photo features a drag race between 2 pre-As Supers, both presumably with Hirth crankshafts. =o

Nice article!

901 gears with ZD fifth from a 914 in the wevo 5 speed gives 70-75mph at about 3000RPM, then it's possible to talk to your passenger(s haha)
