Shifter disassembly

#1 Post by Tim Menefee »

Hi, I have a 59 A and am trying to replace the heater cables and it looks like I need to pull the shifter to access. I can't figure out how to pull the shifter. Any help would be appreciated.

These are from the '56 workshop manual. There were multiple gearbox mods through the A series, but looking at the shop manual component photos I believe your '59 shift linkage should be very similar if not identical. The last photo is from the '57 parts manual.

here is the tunnel that the shifter sits on.
mine is a T1.. if yours is a T2, the shifter will be sit infront of the heater cable housing.
