Pre-A Coupe Steering Parts

#1 Post by J. T. Smith »

Does anyone know the VW part Number for the tie-rod ends on the Pre-A Coupe? So far, I have two sets of replacements, both of which are too big to fit into the holes on the steering arms. How about a source for the correct parts?

Check out www.wolfsburgwest.com Look under front axle parts for pre 1965 VW Beetle. All the tire rod ends are there. you can mix and match from those depending on your tie rods.

As far as I know, the tapered end is smaller on early VW and early 356. Not sure what year they changed.

I used a tapered reamer to convert early spindle parts to the larger, later 356 sizes. I did that for racing, not needed on a street car.

Thanks, Erik. I thought about reaming to make the 12mm parts fit, but if I can get the 9mm parts, life will be much simpler. Appreciate the help. J.T.
