Mint Original 1952 Owner's Manual

#1 Post by Eric Marshall Green »

I have one in German and one in English. Would never sell these. They were my father's. Every car he bought he got all the manuals in duplicate—shop, service, owner's—and kept one set perfect.

Okay. The wife does the photos. Anything besides the dash? It is loaded with gorgeous drawings. I think someone should reprint these. Besides some paper mold spots, they are near perfect.

What is this word you keep using: "repop." What does it mean? Like popcorn, popped a second time?

Be happy to do so. Want the German one as well? My wife also does all the scanning. Can you convince her? How about photos instead.

Here is a picture of the dash page of the earliest manual i have. (note the two gauge dash) The manual is not dated but the cover is red like 52 manual. i would love to see what this page looks like from the white manual.

I believe the white one is not a manual, but a tri-fold of early post cards.

It is interesting that the white document has the later style Porsche logo. I’m thinking that is a mid ‘54 and later thing.

Mark, that "later style" Porsche logo was actually used quite early, at least as early as 1951 at the Berlin Autosalon. See attached photo below.

And of course it is used on the interior first page of the owners manuals as well.

They didn't consistently use it though. And you're right that it was 1954/55 owner's manuals that finally used this version.

IIRC the pic Ned posted is for an earlier car, the one Eric posted is for a late 52. Note the Petri 3 spoke vs VDM 2 spoke steering wheel.
