Window frame screws

#1 Post by Roy Smalley »

Taking apart a one owner late 65 C cpe. Never apart. Screws that hold the door window frames together. Left-Philips with small brass washers. Right-slotted with no washers.

I've seen the washers on both doors, Roy. Dieter or Hans must have forgotten the ones on the right side! As far as the screws, we seem to be infinitely more picky than the people that originally assembled our cars.

Yep, you know my mantra: "Porsche...consistently inconsistent".

Merry Christmas, Roy!

I have to say that all the door/window frames I have seen have DIN 964 slotted oval head screws -- never seen any washers. The parts catalogs (both 356 and 911) do not call out the screws in question (although the screws for the vertical defector piece are part numbered).

BTW, DIN 964 is a later version of DIN 91.

Brad I have done a few not fooled with B/C cars over a few years myself, and most had small brass chromed washers like the screws that hold the door panels on the door. Most were Philips head screws that held the frame together, the wind deflector always slotted.

Here's a couple of photos -- which screws and what locations are we talking about?

There are two on top that hold the front vertical window channel to the frame and two that hold the base of the vent window to the frame. The top two are the ones I've seen the small cup washers.
