Fair price for fresh air blower
I have an original 6 volt fresh air blower for 356 cars.
Good working order on low and high speed.
These show up first in the 62 accessory catalog.
Looking for a fair price, to list in the classifieds.

Re: Fair price for fresh air blower
Hi John:
It depends on how much of it you have. It actually consists of
The Behr Blower unit
Factory dash controller 644.571.083.06.
The wire harness
relay holder 644 615 015 02
Wehrle Relay 6 voltWH-8/1/St/D
60mm paper hoses
What parts do you have?

Re: Fair price for fresh air blower
Hi John,
In order to place a value on the blower, I would place a ‘no reserve’ auction on EBay.
That way you will find out just what a given buyer, on a given day would pay.
I think that would be fair.

I agree with Alex. Price will depend upon completeness of the unit. If you post pics of what you have, my guess is you will get fair offers from our 356 community.

Re: Fair price for fresh air blower
John: does it work? If so, or not, I would note that and offer it on our classifieds. Alex listed the parts that would constitute a complete assembly. With the exception of the hose and wiring, the rest are hard to come by and expen$ive. But, someone will want the blower.

Re: Fair price for fresh air blower
Hi Mike
The reason I was asking about the unit, I dont know what to ask as a fair price.
Since we cant list best offer on the registry site.
It works on both low and high. I might try to find the rest of the parts, the hunt is always fun.

Re: Fair price for fresh air blower
John,
Just list it with no reserve on ebay. The whole world will see it and you will get top dollar. Or man up and price it between $500 and $800 and put an ad in the classifieds. I am sure you know what you have invested.

Re: Fair price for fresh air blower
Guys,
while surfing around - asking some stupid questions as a leek - I found the topic about the air blower.
When I bought our car (in the 90ies) there has been a fresh air blower installed in the car and I removed it cause I thought it was a aftermarket part.
Today I have seen it was a listed accessoires (in this topic)
Does anyone have some pictures for me where and how it was installed. What parts are needed to complete it, cause I read is was listed from 1962 and it was installed in our 1959.
No I probably also understand why a second relay is installed in my front trunk (read here above: relay holder 644 615 015 02 - Wehrle Relay 6 voltWH-8/1/St/D). I didn't removed it - cause I had no clue about the wiring at this moment (and probably either yet )
So I will check the relay in the car soon.
Remembering my car it has bee installed in the battery area ..... before I removed and preserved it .....
Hope to get some interesting pics and answers..... want to restore the part also ....
cheers Helge

Re: Fair price for fresh air blower
I have no idea what good a fresh air blower would do in a pre-T-6? Where would the air go?

Re: Fair price for fresh air blower
Depending on the setting of the (lower) dash lever the air will come out of either the windshield vents, or the two rubber vents below the dash, along with the floor vents if their covers are open.

Martin; there are no components you describe in a PRE-T-6.

Re: Fair price for fresh air blower
Heige:
You need to read the 356 Registry issue on the Behr Fresh air blower.
Go to the Magazine tab on our Registry website.
It's; 36 Nbr 5 page 62 Article on Fresh Air Blower.
There is an update however on the relay.
6 v Wehrle
As Eric Lenius discovered the factory Behr Fresh Air Blower actually used a WH-8/1/St/D relay with 40 Ohm resistance. The same relay as was used on a 6 v BN4 heaters. My Behr blower is functioning on a WH-8/1/St/K horn relay which only produces around 14 ohms of resistance, so it should have the higher (D) resistance. Unfortunately they are not readily available. I have been hunting for one.
If you could take a picture of the relay that’s in your car and post it to verify that would be helpful.
BTW your email button is missing from your profile. No way to sent you a message.
