Pre A throttle pedal
I need to sort out the placement and function of the throttle cable before I commit to welding in my tunnel. Does anyone have the dimensions of the throttle pedal bracket? The one sold by the normal suspects are not correct for pre A cars but looks like it could be used with some re engineering. Or does anyone know of some one making them?

Donald,
Its a '52 split window coupe. It used a cable instead of the throttle rod but I assume the pedal is the same...

Re: Pre A throttle pedal
I will pull the floor mat out tomorrow and measure the bracket.
On P-356 split window cars does the gas pedal push on a deflection lever that pulls the throttle cable, similar to the arrangement on the later pre-A cars?

Re: Pre A throttle pedal
Donald,
I will post a photo of the lever tonight. The lever has a ball socket type rod from the pedal to the "L" shaped lever that a throttle cable attaches. Thanks for the help.

Re: Pre A throttle pedal
Tony,
Here are a couple comparison photos of pre-A and 356A gas pedals. Both pedals are equal in size. The ball stud bracket position is flipped around on the 356A - - not sure if it would make any difference when adapted to an earlier car. Then, a few detail shots of a pre-A pedal and some basic dimensions. I'll wait a couple days before reinstalling the pedal in my car in case you need more measurements - - - -

Re: Pre A throttle pedal
Didn't Stoddard just start making them?

Re: Pre A throttle pedal
Donald thank you for taking the time to get me the pictures & dimensions! Here is a photo of the linkage on a throttle cable car.
CJ I haven't seen anyone offer the pedal with the correct mounting plate. Do you have a link?

Re: Pre A throttle pedal
I was thinking of this http://www.stoddard.com/356490651.html sorry.
It seems like there is some confusion out there. http://www.sierramadrecollection.com/Ga ... 26995.html
Worse yet I think I ripped one of those out of my racer and may have tossed it!

Tony,
One more question - - -
Do P-356 split window cars have a stop bolt to limit pedal travel when the gas pedal is fully depressed?

Donald,
Mine was missing the "Stop" but there is a place for it so I assume it had one..

Re: Pre A throttle pedal
Does anyone have a pic of exactly where the throttle pedal base is placed in relation to the clutch/brake cluster?

Re: Pre A throttle pedal
The accelerator pedal base mounts to the pre-tapped holes on the tunnel frame. This is a picture from the '54 workshop manual. Earlier models will be similar.
